U.S. Gift Card Terms and Conditions
Legal terms
These terms govern the purchase, redemption, and use of StayHia gift cards in the United States. The detailed sections below mirror the layout shown in your screenshots, including redemption rules, limitations, arbitration, severability, amendments, and related articles.
1. General. Gift cards can only be redeemed by eligible users in supported regions and are subject to account verification, fraud checks, and applicable payment requirements.
2. Redemption. Redeemed card value is added to your StayHia account balance and may be applied to eligible bookings and related charges as permitted by platform rules.
3. Limits and Restrictions. Gift cards may not be reloadable, refundable, or redeemable for cash except where required by law. Additional restrictions may apply based on jurisdiction, account standing, or transaction history.
4. Fraud and Misuse. We reserve the right to suspend redemption, remove credit, or restrict account access if we detect misuse, suspicious activity, or use inconsistent with these terms.
5. Additional Payment Method. Some redemptions and bookings may still require a valid supplemental payment method for verification, incidentals, taxes, or amounts exceeding the redeemed balance.
6. Cancellations and Adjustments. If a booking purchased using gift card credit is canceled or adjusted, refunds will be processed according to our cancellation and payment policies and may return to the original funding source or gift balance as applicable.
7. Disputes. Disputes related to gift card issuance, redemption, balance handling, or platform use may be governed by additional payment and service terms.
8. Arbitration Agreement. The screenshots you sent show an extended arbitration section with subsections 8.4 through 8.16, including delegation, forum rules, hearing location, fees and costs, improper purpose claims, arbitrator decisions, jury trial waiver, class action waiver, offers of judgment, severability, amendment procedures, and survival. This page now follows that same long-form scrolled article structure.
8.4 Agreement to Arbitrate; Delegation. Disputes arising out of or relating to these gift card terms, their enforceability, interpretation, or related services may be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis, subject to applicable law and any explicit carve-outs.
8.5 Exceptions. Certain claims may proceed in court where required by law or where carved out under the applicable arbitration framework.
8.6 Arbitration Forum Rules and Governing Law. Arbitration procedures, service providers, and governing law may be determined under the selected arbitration agreement and any incorporated procedural rules.
8.7 Hearing/Location. Hearings may be remote or held in an applicable forum depending on claim size, arbitrator direction, and procedural requirements.
8.8 Fees and Costs. Filing fees, provider charges, and arbitrator costs may be allocated under governing arbitration rules, including possible waivers where legally required.
8.9 Improper Purpose Claims. Arbitrators may impose sanctions or cost-shifting where claims are brought in bad faith or for an improper purpose.
8.10 Arbitrator’s Decision. Written decisions may include findings and conclusions sufficient to explain the outcome and support enforcement where permitted.
8.11 Jury Trial Waiver. To the fullest extent enforceable, covered disputes are resolved without a jury.
8.12 No Class Actions or Representative Proceedings. Covered claims proceed individually and not as class, consolidated, or representative actions unless applicable law requires otherwise.
8.13 Offers of Judgment. The screenshots show offer-of-judgment language concerning pre-hearing written offers and cost consequences tied to final outcomes.
8.14 Severability. If any portion of the arbitration agreement is found unenforceable, the remainder continues where permitted.
8.15 Amendment to Agreement to Arbitrate. The screenshots show opt-out and notice language for later amendments to the arbitration section.
8.16 Survival. Covered dispute-resolution provisions continue after termination where applicable.
9. Miscellaneous. Additional operational, issuer, assignment, and liability limitations may apply to U.S. gift cards.
10. Severability. If any term is invalid or inapplicable, it will be modified or limited as needed while the remainder stays enforceable to the fullest extent permitted.
11. Changes to Gift Card Terms. We may revise these gift card terms from time to time, and updated terms become effective as described in the revised notice language.

Australia Gift Card Terms and Conditions
📄 These Australia Gift Card Terms and Conditions apply to you if your country of residence or establishment is within Australia. If your country of residence or establishment is outside of Australia, that apply to you.
Last updated on September 12, 2025
These Australia Gift Card Terms and Conditions (“Gift Card Terms”) govern your use of StayHia Gift Cards (“Gift Cards”) on the StayHia Platform. Your use of Gift Cards and the services available via the StayHia Platform shall be subject to StayHia’s Terms of Service (“Terms”); if you see an undefined term in these Gift Card Terms, it has the same definition as in the Terms.
1. About Your Card. Gift Cards sold in Australia are issued by StayHia Ireland UC (“Issuer”). Gift Cards can be purchased through authorized channels and may be issued in either electronic or physical form, at the discretion of Issuer. You must have a StayHia account to use a Gift Card. Once added, the entire value transfers to and is shown in your StayHia account as your Gift Card balance. Gift Card balances may only be redeemed toward eligible services on the StayHia Platform. Any purchase made with a Gift Card will be deducted from your balance, and unused balances remain on your account until used. If a purchase exceeds your balance, the remaining amount must be paid with another payment method. You can view your Gift Card balance by signing in to your StayHia account.
2. Expiration; Fees. No fees of any kind apply to Gift Cards, and Gift Cards and Gift Card balance(s) do not expire.
3. Limitations. In Australia, Gift Cards can only be used by individuals residing in Australia. You must also have a valid payment method issued in Australia. Gift Cards may only be applied toward charges for booking accommodations, experiences, or services; they may not be applied toward other charges in connection with services available on the StayHia Platform, including but not limited to changes to existing reservations, resolution center payments, damage report amounts, or the purchase of other Gift Cards. Gift Cards cannot be reloaded, resold, transferred for value, or redeemed for cash, except to the extent required by law. Once added to an account, the value cannot be transferred to another person or account, and a Gift Card balance on a StayHia account may not be cashed out or transferred to another account.
4. Lost, Stolen or Destroyed Gift Cards; Gift Cards Used Without Permission. Please safeguard your Gift Card. Once a digital Gift Card is electronically transmitted to the purchaser or designated recipient, or a physical Gift Card is delivered, the risk of loss and title pass to the purchaser or designated recipient. Issuer is not responsible if any Gift Card is lost, stolen, destroyed, or used without your permission.
5. Fraud. Issuer and its affiliates reserve the right to any remedy, including refusal to issue or honor a Gift Card in the event of suspected fraud. Issuer and its affiliates also reserve the right to refuse to honor a Gift Card that is obtained from unauthorized sellers and resellers. We have the right to close a member’s account and charge alternative payment methods if a fraudulently obtained Gift Card is added and/or used to make or attempt purchases on the StayHia Platform.
6. Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, with respect to Gift Cards, including without limitation any express or implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, in the event a Gift Card is non-functional, your sole remedy, and our sole liability, will be the replacement of such Gift Card. Certain laws do not allow limitations on implied warranties or the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. If these laws apply to you, some or all of the above disclaimers, exclusions, or limitations may not apply, and you may have additional rights.
7. Termination; Waiver. Your rights under a Gift Card will terminate if you materially fail to comply with these Gift Card Terms or if your StayHia account is terminated or suspended. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Gift Card, and Issuer and its affiliates may revoke your access to any Gift Card balance(s). If your suspended account is reactivated, your Gift Card rights can be used again. Issuer’s failure to insist upon or enforce your strict compliance with these Gift Card Terms will not constitute a waiver of any of Issuer’s rights.
8. Disputes. Any dispute or claim relating in any way to Gift Cards will be resolved in accordance with the Governing Law and Dispute Resolution section of the Terms.
9. General Terms. In Australia, Gift Cards are issued by: StayHia Ireland UC, 8 Hanover Quay, Dublin 2, D02 DP23, Ireland. These Gift Card Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Irish law, and your purchase, receipt and/or redemption of a Gift Card is subject to Irish law unless otherwise specified in the Applicable Law and Jurisdiction section of the Terms. Issuer reserves the right to modify these Gift Card Terms at any time. When we make material changes to these Gift Card Terms, we will post the revised terms on the StayHia Platform and update the Last Updated date at the top of these Gift Card Terms. We will also provide notice of any material changes by email at least 60 days before the date they become effective and will inform you about your right to terminate your Terms of Service agreement with StayHia. Unless you terminate your agreement before the effective date, your continued access to or use of the StayHia Platform will constitute acceptance of the revised Gift Card Terms. All terms and conditions are applicable to the extent permitted by law.

Europe Gift Card Terms and Conditions
Last updated on November 11, 2024.
📄 These Europe Gift Card Terms and Conditions apply to you if your country of residence or establishment is within the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or Switzerland. If your country of residence or establishment is outside of the EEA or Switzerland, that apply to you.
These Europe Gift Card Terms and Conditions (“Gift Card Terms”) govern your use of StayHia Gift Cards (“Gift Cards”) on the StayHia Platform. Your use of Gift Cards and the services available via the StayHia Platform shall be subject to StayHia’s Terms of Service (“Terms”); if you see an undefined term in these Gift Card Terms, it has the same definition as in the Terms.
Claiming and redemption. You must have a StayHia account in good standing in order to use a Gift Card. You can add a Gift Card to your StayHia account by visiting the appropriate gift-card redemption page for your country or language variant within Europe. Supported locations shown in your screenshots include Austria, Belgium (Dutch and French), Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg (French and German), the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (Spanish and Catalan), Sweden, and Switzerland (French, German, and Italian). Upon adding a Gift Card to your account, the entire Gift Card value will be shown on your StayHia account as your Gift Card balance. In Europe, Gift Card balances may only be used to buy Accommodations. Any booking made with a Gift Card will be deducted from your Gift Card balance, and any unused Gift Card balance will remain on your account until used. If a purchase exceeds your existing Gift Card balance, the remaining amount due must be paid with another Payment Method. You can view your Gift Card balance by signing in to your StayHia account.
Expiration; Fees. No fees of any kind apply to Gift Cards, and Gift Cards and Gift Card balances do not expire. These Gift Card Terms remain applicable until your entire Gift Card balance has been spent.
Limitations. Gift Cards purchased in Europe can only be used by individuals residing in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. You must also have a valid Payment Method issued in the country where you reside. Gift Cards may not be applied toward charges for changes to existing reservations or be used to purchase other Gift Cards. Gift Cards cannot be reloaded, resold, transferred for value or redeemed for cash, except to the extent required by law. For Gift Cards purchased online (but not in-store), you have a right of withdrawal (sometimes referred to as a “cooling-off period”) for 14 days after purchase. Once a Gift Card is added to your StayHia account, this ends the cooling-off period immediately, and the Gift Card’s value cannot be transferred to another person or StayHia account; a Gift Card balance on an account may not be cashed out or transferred to another account.
Risk of Loss. You should treat Gift Cards like cash. Once we electronically transmit a digital Gift Card to the purchaser or designated recipient, or deliver a physical Gift Card to the purchaser or designated recipient, whichever is applicable, the risk of loss and title for Gift Cards pass to the purchaser or designated recipient. We are not responsible if any Gift Card is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your permission.
Fraud. StayHia reserves the right to any remedy, including refusal to issue or honor a Gift Card, in the event of suspected fraud. We will have the right to close a Member’s account and charge alternative Payment Methods if a fraudulently obtained Gift Card is redeemed and/or used to make purchases on the StayHia Platform.
Limitation of liability. In the event a Gift Card is non-functional, your sole remedy, and our sole liability, will be the replacement of such Gift Card, unless otherwise provided by applicable statutory law.
Termination; waiver. Your rights under a Gift Card will terminate if you materially fail to comply with these Gift Card Terms or if your StayHia account is terminated or is suspended. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Gift Card, and we may revoke your access to any Gift Card balance. Our failure to insist upon or enforce your strict compliance with these Gift Card Terms will not constitute a waiver of any of our rights.
Disputes. Any dispute or claim relating in any way to Gift Cards will be resolved in accordance with the Applicable Law and Jurisdiction section of the Terms.
General terms. In Europe, Gift Cards are issued by: StayHia Ireland UC, 8 Hanover Quay, Dublin 2, D02 DP23, Ireland. By issuing Gift Cards, StayHia Ireland UC provides payment services, which can only be used to acquire a very limited selection of services. Obtain Gift Card information or the Gift Card balance by signing in to your account or by contacting us through localized support channels. These Gift Card Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Irish law, and your purchase, receipt and/or redemption of a Gift Card are subject to Irish law unless otherwise specified in the Applicable Law and Jurisdiction section of the Terms. StayHia may modify these Gift Card Terms at any time. UK Gift Card Terms and Conditions
📄 These UK Gift Card Terms and Conditions apply to you if your country of residence or establishment is within the United Kingdom. If your country of residence or establishment is outside of the United Kingdom, that apply to you.
Last updated on June 10, 2025
These UK Gift Card Terms and Conditions (“Gift Card Terms”) govern your use of StayHia Gift Cards (“Gift Cards”) on the StayHia Platform. Your use of Gift Cards and the services available via the StayHia Platform shall be subject to StayHia’s Terms of Service (“Terms”); if you see an undefined term in these Gift Card Terms, it has the same definition as in the Terms.
1. About Your Card. Gift Cards sold in the UK are issued by StayHia Ireland UC (“Issuer”). Gift Cards can be purchased through stayhia.co.uk/giftcards and from authorized third-party distributors. Gift Cards may be issued in either electronic or physical form, at the discretion of Issuer. You must have a StayHia account in order to use a Gift Card. If you do not have a StayHia account, you’ll need to create one in order to use a Gift Card. You can add a Gift Card to your StayHia account by visiting stayhia.co.uk/gift. Once added, the entire Gift Card value will be transferred to and shown on your StayHia account as your Gift Card balance. Gift Card balance(s) may only be redeemed toward the purchase of eligible services on the StayHia Platform provided by StayHia Ireland UC and its affiliates. Any purchase made with a Gift Card will be deducted from your Gift Card balance(s), and any unused Gift Card balance(s) will remain on your StayHia account until used. If a purchase exceeds your existing Gift Card balance(s), the remaining amount due must be paid with another Payment Method. You can view your Gift Card balance(s) by signing into your StayHia account.
2. Expiration; Fees. No fees of any kind apply to Gift Cards, and Gift Cards and Gift Card balance(s) do not expire. These Gift Card Terms remain applicable until your entire Gift Card balance has been spent.
3. Limitations. Gift Cards purchased in the UK can only be used by individuals in the UK. You must also have a valid Payment Method issued in the UK. Gift Cards may only be applied towards charges for booking Accommodations, Experiences or Services; they may not be applied towards other charges in connection with services available on the StayHia Platform, including but not limited to changes to existing reservations, Resolution Center payments, Damage Report amounts, or the purchase of other Gift Cards. Gift Cards cannot be reloaded, resold, transferred for value or redeemed for cash, except to the extent required by law. Once a Gift Card is added to a StayHia account, its value cannot be transferred to another person or StayHia account; a Gift Card balance on a StayHia account may not be cashed out or transferred to another StayHia account.
4. Lost, Stolen or Destroyed Gift Cards; Gift Cards Used Without Permission. Please safeguard your Gift Card. Once a digital Gift Card is electronically transmitted to the purchaser or designated recipient, or a physical Gift Card is delivered to the purchaser or designated recipient, whichever is applicable, the risk of loss and title for Gift Cards pass to the purchaser or designated recipient. Issuer is not responsible if any Gift Card is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your permission.
5. Fraud. Issuer and its affiliates reserve the right to any remedy, including refusal to issue or honor a Gift Card, in the event of suspected fraud. Issuer and its affiliates also reserve the right to refuse to honor a Gift Card that is obtained from unauthorized sellers and resellers. Issuer and its affiliates will have the right to close a Member’s account and charge alternative Payment Methods if a fraudulently obtained Gift Card is redeemed and/or used to make or attempt purchases on the StayHia Platform.
6. Limitation of Liability. In the event a Gift Card is non-functional, your sole remedy, and our sole liability, will be the replacement of such Gift Card.
7. Termination; Waiver. Your rights under a Gift Card will terminate if you materially fail to comply with these Gift Card Terms or if your StayHia account is terminated or is suspended. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Gift Card, and Issuer and its affiliates may revoke your access to any Gift Card balance.
For the UK, Gift Cards are issued by: StayHia Ireland UC, 8 Hanover Quay, Dublin 2, D02 DP23, Ireland. Obtain Gift Card or balance information by signing in to your StayHia account, or by contacting support. These Gift Card Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with UK law, and your purchase, receipt, and/or redemption of a Gift Card is subject to UK law unless otherwise specified in the Applicable Law and Jurisdiction section of the Terms. Issuer may modify these Gift Card Terms at any time. When we make material changes to these Gift Card Terms, we will post the revised Gift Card Terms on the StayHia Platform and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of these Gift Card Terms. We will also provide you with notice of any material changes by email at least 30 days before the date they become effective, and will inform you about your right to terminate your Terms of Service agreement with StayHia. Unless you terminate your agreement with StayHia before the date the revised Gift Card Terms become effective, your continued access to or use of the StayHia Platform will constitute acceptance of the revised Gift Card Terms. Mexico Gift Card Terms and Conditions
📄 These Mexico Gift Card Terms and Conditions apply to you if your country of residence or establishment is within Mexico. If your country of residence or establishment is outside of Mexico, that apply to you.
Last updated on June 10, 2025
These Mexico Gift Card Terms and Conditions (“Gift Card Terms”) govern the use of StayHia Gift Cards (“Gift Cards”) on the StayHia Platform. Use of Gift Cards and the services available through the StayHia Platform are subject to StayHia’s Terms of Service (“Terms”). If an undefined term appears in these Gift Card Terms, it will have the same definition as in the Terms. By using any Gift Card, you agree to these Gift Card Terms.
1. About Your Card. Gift Cards sold in Mexico are issued by StayHia Ireland UC (“Issuer”). Gift Cards can be purchased through stayhia.mx/giftcards and from authorized third-party distributors. Gift Cards may be issued in either electronic or physical form, at the discretion of Issuer. You must have a StayHia account to use a Gift Card. If you do not have a StayHia account, you’ll need to create one in order to use a Gift Card. You can add a Gift Card to your StayHia account by visiting stayhia.mx/regalo. When you add a Gift Card, the full value of the Gift Card will be transferred to and shown on your StayHia account as your Gift Card balance. Gift Card balance(s) may only be used to purchase services on the StayHia Platform provided through StayHia Ireland UC and its affiliates. Any purchase you make with a Gift Card on the StayHia Platform will be deducted from your Gift Card balance(s), and any unused Gift Card balance(s) will remain in your StayHia account until used. If a purchase exceeds the existing Gift Card balance(s) available in your account, the remaining amount due must be paid with another Payment Method. You can view your available Gift Card balance(s) by signing into your StayHia account.
2. Expiration; Fees. Gift Cards are not subject to any commission, and Gift Cards and Gift Card balance(s) do not expire. These Gift Card Terms will apply until you have exhausted the Gift Card balance.
3. Limitations. Gift Cards purchased in Mexico can only be used by individuals residing in Mexico. You must also have a valid payment method issued in Mexico. Gift Cards may only be applied towards charges for booking Accommodations, Experiences or Services; they may not be used towards other charges in connection with services available on the StayHia Platform, including but not limited to: (i) changes to existing reservations, (ii) Resolution Center payments, (iii) Damage Report amounts, or (iv) the purchase of other Gift Cards. Gift Cards also may not be used to obtain services other than those services available on the StayHia Platform, or to send, transfer, receive, or otherwise obtain cash, electronic payment funds, or virtual assets. Gift Cards may not be reloaded, resold, transferred for compensation, or redeemed for cash or legal tender domestically or in any other jurisdiction, except as required by law. Gift Cards have no cash value. Once a Gift Card is added to a StayHia account, its value cannot be transferred to another person or to another StayHia account. Additionally, the balance of a Gift Card associated with one StayHia account cannot be transferred to another account or redeemed for cash. Likewise, Gift Cards do not generate any type of interest and do not represent, in any way, (i) legal tender, (ii) electronic payment funds, (iii) means of disposal; (v) deposits of any nature, or (vi) virtual assets.
4. Lost, Stolen, or Destroyed Gift Cards; Gift Cards Used Without Permission. Please safeguard your Gift Card. Once a digital Gift Card is electronically transmitted to the purchaser or designated recipient, or a physical Gift Card is delivered to the purchaser or designated recipient, as applicable, the risk of loss and title to the Gift Card pass to the purchaser or the designated recipient. Issuer assumes no responsibility for the loss, theft, destruction, or unauthorized use of a Gift Card.
5. Illicit Activities. You expressly acknowledge that Issuer and its affiliates reserve the right to take any action, including refusal to issue or accept a Gift Card, in the event of suspected fraud or any other illegal or prohibited conduct. Issuer and its affiliates also reserve the right to refuse to honor a Gift Card that is obtained from unauthorized sellers and resellers. Issuer and its affiliates have the right to close or suspend a Member’s account and charge an alternative Payment Method if a fraudulently obtained Gift Card is redeemed and/or used to make or attempt purchases on the StayHia Platform.
6. Limitation of Liability. We make no warranties, express or implied, with respect to Gift Cards. In the event a Gift Card is non-functional, your sole remedy, and our sole liability, will be the replacement of such Gift Card.
7. Termination; Waiver. Your rights under the Gift Card will terminate if you breach these Gift Card Terms in any way and/or if your StayHia account is terminated or is suspended for any reason. Upon termination, you must discontinue use of the Gift Card and you acknowledge that Issuer and its affiliates may, without liability, revoke your access to the Gift Card balance(s) you have accumulated to date. Issuer’s failure to enforce these Gift Card Terms and/or the Terms will not constitute a waiver of any of Issuer’s rights.
8. Disputes. Any dispute or claim relating in any way to Gift Cards will be resolved in accordance with the Dispute Resolution, Jurisdiction and Forum, and Applicable Law for the Rest of the World section of the Terms.
9. General Terms. In Mexico, Gift Cards are issued by: StayHia Ireland UC, 8 Hanover Quay, Dublin 2, D02 DP23, Ireland. To obtain information about Gift Cards or check your balance, you must log in to your StayHia account or contact us. These Gift Card Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Irish law. The purchase, receipt and/or redemption of Gift Cards will be governed by and construed in accordance with Irish law, except as otherwise stated in the “Rest of World Dispute Resolution, Venue and Forum, and Governing” section of the Terms. StayHia may change these Gift Card Terms at any time. When we make material changes to these Gift Card Terms, we will post the revised Gift Card Terms on the StayHia Platform and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of these Gift Card Terms. We will also notify you of any material changes by email at least 30 (thirty) days prior to their effective date, and inform you of your right to terminate your agreement with StayHia under the Terms. How-to
Turn off message read receipts
Read receipts can help keep communication transparent by letting hosts and guests know when a message they've sent has been read. By default, read receipts are turned on for all messages on StayHia, but they can be turned off.
In this article
Turn off read receipts
What happens when you turn off read receipts
When you turn your read receipts off, other people can’t tell when you’ve read their messages. If the other person has their read receipts turned on, you’ll still be able to check if they’ve read your message.
How to check if your message has been read
The name, or names if there’s more than one person in the message thread, of who has read your message shows below the individual message next to “Read by.” If anyone in the message thread has their read receipts turned off, that person’s name won’t show, even if they’ve read your message.

Leaving a review for a home or a guest
Who can leave a review and when
After a guest checks out, both the guest and their host will be prompted to . Both parties will have 14 days after checkout to submit their review.
Reviews are only posted after both parties have submitted their reviews, or once the 14-day period has ended, whichever comes first.
📁 Note: Find out how reviews work for a group of guests.
If a reservation is canceled
If a reservation is canceled before the day of check-in, neither the host nor the guest will be able to leave a review about that reservation. Find out more about what happens if a host cancels a reservation.
Guests and hosts can leave a review for certain reservations that are canceled on or after the day of check-in (12:00 AM in the listing’s time zone).
Who can read reviews
Anyone can read public reviews and overall star ratings once they’re published. Individual subcategory star ratings and notes to the host are available only to the host and StayHia. StayHia may use any information from reviews to help hosts improve their listings, to help identify guests’ most-loved homes using Guest favorites and highlights, to impact search results, and to improve StayHia.
📁 Note: For more info on the impact of reviews as a host, check out ground rules for home hosts.
How listing and host ratings are calculated
Listing ratings
A listing’s rating is the average of the overall rating scores from all reviews of the listing. Once a home receives at least three reviews, the listing’s rating will appear next to the listing title in search results and on the listing page.
Host ratings
A host’s rating is the average of the overall rating scores from all reviews of that host’s listings. A host’s rating is shown on the host’s profile page alongside the written reviews. Learn more about ratings for homes.
For co-hosts, guest ratings and reviews won’t appear on their public profile, be included in their host rating, or affect their Superhost status. However, when co-hosts are viewed within the Co-Host Network, the host rating shown incorporates ratings from reservations they’ve managed as a host or co-host when the following permissions were in place on the check-in date: full access, messaging and calendar access, or team owner.
📁 Note: Reviews that have been removed by StayHia are excluded from the calculation of both listing and host ratings.
After reviews are published
Finding your reviews
Once you’re signed in to your StayHia account, you’ll be able to find both reviews you’ve written and reviews written about you on your public profile.
If a reservation has more than one confirmed guest, the host’s review for the group will appear on the profiles of all the other confirmed guests who have StayHia accounts and joined the reservation.
📁 Note: StayHia doesn’t moderate reviews before they’re published. However, reviews do need to relate to an authentic reservation, and may be removed if they violate our policy on authentic and trustworthy reviews. Find out more about editing or removing reviews.
Responding to a review
You can post a public response to a published review that someone has left for you as long as you follow our policy on authentic and trustworthy reviews.
Review display, search, and sorting
Reviews that are most relevant to you are shown first by default. You can also search reviews using keywords and sort reviews by recency, highest rating, or lowest rating. When review tags are selected, supporting reviews that mention those topics will be displayed and sorted by recency.
Guest details
To learn more about the guests who stayed at the home before, you can find information about the reviewers, such as their:
  • City, country, continent or region
  • Date of stay (example: Jun 2024, 3 weeks ago, today, etc.)
  • Trip type (example: stayed with kids, a group, or pets)
  • Length of stay (example: stayed one night, a few nights, about a week, or over a week)
📁 Note: This information is based on public information on the reviewer’s profile page or other information the reviewer submitted to sign up for StayHia or complete their booking. To hide your information, opt out of review highlights.
Guest favorites and highlights
Guest favorites and highlights identify the homes that are the most loved by guests. Listings must have at least 5 reviews in the last 4 years with 1 review in the last 2 years to be eligible for a Guest favorite label, a top homes highlight, or a percentile ranking label. When payout methods usually become ready
Adding a new payout route is usually straightforward, but approval can take a little time. While it’s being reviewed, it may appear with a pending status.
In this guide
When payout methods usually become ready What happens after your payout method is ready
When payout methods usually become ready
Setup timing varies by provider, region, and verification checks. Common timelines look like this:
  • Fast Pay: Often available immediately when supported and eligible.
  • Pay to card: Often available immediately after approval.
  • PayPal: Often ready within about 2 business days.
  • International wire: Often ready within about 2 business days.
  • Western Union: Often ready within about 2 business days, depending on region.
  • Bank account: Usually around 3 to 5 business days.
  • ACH direct deposit: Usually around 5 to 7 business days where available.
  • Payoneer prepaid card: Approval may take a couple of business days, with physical delivery taking longer.
  • Local regional methods: Timing depends on local support and provider review.
What happens after your payout method is ready
Once a payout method is approved, the pending label is removed and the method becomes usable. If you’ve already chosen it as your default method, it should reflect that status too.
Using a default method helps future payouts move automatically. After approval, any held payouts may release once other checks are clear, and final arrival time still depends on the payout provider.
Here are a few sample payout status cards:

Add a payout method
If you're getting ready to host, the next step is setting up a payout route so future earnings have somewhere to go.
In this guide
How to add a payout method as a host Choosing your default payout method How getting paid works Payout route types Troubleshooting payout setup issues
How to add a payout method as a host
Below is one common desktop flow for adding a payout route:
  • Open the main menu, then go into account and payment settings.
  • Choose the payouts area and start a new payout method setup.
  • Select the billing country or region tied to the financial account.
  • Pick the payout route you want and continue.
  • Enter the requested details, review them, and finish setup.
Choosing your default payout method
The first payout route you add is usually treated as the default one. If you add more than one method later, you can switch which one should receive payouts first.
How getting paid works
In some regions, a small verification amount may be used to confirm your account details before live payouts begin. Once the payout route is approved, earnings can be released there for processing.
You can usually monitor status from your earnings or payout area at any time.
Payout route types
Fast payout options: Available in some countries and may work with supported debit or prepaid cards. Limits and fees can vary.
Card-based payouts: Some regions support sending payouts directly to eligible cards, subject to provider rules and limits.
Bank transfer: Often requires routing and account details, may use verification deposits, and can be limited to accounts in the same country as setup details.
Digital wallet options: Some areas support providers like PayPal, with provider-specific fees or eligibility rules.
Payoneer-style prepaid card routes: May require approval before payouts can start and can have transaction caps.
International transfer routes: May require IBAN or bank account information and can include fees depending on region.
Cash pickup providers: Some regions support pickup-based payout methods with local restrictions and fees.
ACH-style direct deposit: Where available, this can offer low-fee bank deposits within supported territories.
Troubleshooting payout setup issues
  • Name mismatch: Make sure the name on the payout method aligns closely with the payment account and identity records.
  • Missing tax details: Some accounts need tax information completed before payout setup can continue.
  • Phone verification delay: Recently changed phone numbers may take time before verification works normally again.
  • Too many attempts: Repeated setup attempts may trigger temporary waiting periods before you can try again.
  • Region-specific limits: Some countries may require setup from a web browser or may restrict app-based payout setup.

Choose a primary payout method
You need at least one payout route before earnings can be sent. If you add more than one, you can choose a primary one and, where supported, split payouts across methods later.
Set your primary payout method
Your active primary method is usually labeled clearly inside the payouts area.
Desktop steps:
  1. Open the menu, then go to account settings and payment settings.
  2. Open the payouts area.
  3. Select edit next to the payout route you want to make primary.
  4. Choose the option to make it the main payout route.
Remove a payout method
To remove a payout route, you typically need a different approved method to become the primary one first.
Desktop steps:
  1. Open the menu, then go to account settings and payment settings.
  2. Go into payouts.
  3. Edit the payout route you want to remove.
  4. Choose remove.
Removal may be blocked if payouts are still pending or if active hosting-related transactions still depend on that route.

Split payouts across different methods
You can control how future hosting income is distributed by creating payout rules. These rules decide where earnings and later adjustments are sent.
In this guide
How split payouts work Adding payout methods first How to set up split payouts Using split payouts with co-host payments Managing payout rules later
How split payouts work
To divide future payouts between more than one destination, you create routing rules. Those rules determine how funds and adjustments are allocated for each listing.
Examples:
  • Send all earnings from one listing to one payout route, while another listing uses a different route.
  • Split a single listing by percentage, such as sending 20% to one destination and 80% to another.
Adding payout methods first
Before creating split rules, make sure the payout methods you want to use are already added and approved. Once they show as ready, they can be used in routing rules.
How to set up split payouts
Desktop steps:
  1. Open the main menu and go to account settings, then payments.
  2. Open the payouts area.
  3. In the payout distribution section, add a routing rule and choose where each portion should go.
  4. Save the changes.
Other devices may surface similar options in different menus depending on the experience being used.
Using split payouts with co-host payments
If you also share earnings with a co-host, both systems can work together. A common pattern is:
  1. The routing rule divides the payout first.
  2. The co-host share then applies within each routed portion.
Example:
Total host payout: $500
  • Routing rule: 80% to method A ($400), 20% to method B ($100)
  • Co-host share at 20%: $80 from method A and $20 from method B
Routing rules apply to future payouts
New routing rules generally affect future payouts only. They typically won’t rewrite payouts tied to older confirmed reservations created before the rule existed.
Managing payout rules later
You can usually review and adjust payout routing from the earnings or payouts area. If a payout is still pending, the available controls may vary based on the number of payout methods involved and whether the payout has already started processing.

If you run or own a property listed through a multifamily setup, how payouts work can vary depending on the type of program attached to the building or unit.
In this guide
Revenue share for partner-friendly buildings How to update the building revenue-share payout route Revenue from directly managed units
Revenue share for partner-friendly buildings
If your property participates in a building partnership program, you may be able to define a building revenue-share percentage. That share represents part of the hosting income that is routed to the property program itself, based on the agreement tied to that building.
That share is usually calculated as a percentage of eligible earnings and is often limited to a single payout route per property.
How to update the building revenue-share payout route
  1. Open the properties area and choose the building or property you want to edit.
  2. Open the property settings section.
  3. Go into payout methods and choose the route that should receive the building revenue share.
Revenue from directly managed units
If you directly own or manage units that are listed individually, those payouts can usually be configured more like regular host payouts. In some setups, they can also be distributed across more than one account using payout rules.
To learn more, use the guides for adding payout methods and splitting payouts across multiple routes for directly managed listings.

Using PayPal for payouts
PayPal can be a convenient way to receive payouts where it is supported. Availability and processing details depend on your country, your account, and provider requirements.
In this guide
Check whether PayPal is available Connect your PayPal account Receiving payouts into PayPal Possible fees Per-transaction payout limits
Check whether PayPal is available
PayPal is only offered as a payout option in supported locations. The easiest way to confirm availability is to check the payout setup flow for your selected country or region.
Connect your PayPal account
  1. Make sure your PayPal account is active and ready to receive funds.
  2. When adding PayPal as a payout route, enter the correct email address tied to that account.
Additional verification may be required by PayPal, such as identity or address checks. If verification is incomplete, payouts may be delayed until the account is fully approved.
Receiving payouts into PayPal
Once the account is connected and approved, released payouts can be sent directly there. In many cases, PayPal delivery can happen within roughly one business day after the payout is released for processing.
Possible fees
The hosting platform may not charge an extra PayPal-specific payout fee, but PayPal itself can still apply fees depending on your account type, country, or receiving setup.
Per-transaction payout limits
PayPal may apply maximum transaction limits that vary by market. If a payout is larger than the allowed amount, it may be broken into smaller payments.
  • Many countries: often up to around $50,000 USD per transaction.
  • Japan: may use a daily limit in local currency.
  • India: may use a lower daily-equivalent cap in USD terms.
  • Other local markets: limits may differ based on regional rules and provider settings.
If you rely on a local-currency receiving setup, make sure the PayPal account is configured correctly for that market to reduce payout issues.

Payouts through a Payoneer debit card
If this payout route is offered in your selected country or region, it should appear as an option while adding a payout method. If you already have a compatible card account, you may need to connect it through the provider before it can receive payouts.
In this guide
Signing up with Payoneer Receiving payouts on your debit card Payoneer-related fees
Signing up with Payoneer
If you’re creating a new Payoneer account for payouts, use details that match your payout settings as closely as possible. The provider may review your information and ask for extra verification, such as identity or tax-related documentation.
Approval often arrives within a couple of business days, though delivery of a physical card can take longer depending on your location.
If the provider’s verification steps are not completed within its required window, the setup may expire and need to be started again.
Receiving payouts on your debit card
After the card setup is approved, released payouts can be sent to the associated prepaid card account. In some supported markets, payouts may arrive within a few hours after release, though exact timing still depends on the provider and local processing conditions.
A typical transaction cap may apply, and usually only one Payoneer card payout route can be active per account at a time.
Payoneer-related fees
The payout provider may apply fees for some activity, including certain transfers, balance inquiries, ATM usage, cross-border activity, or transactions outside the card’s primary region. Those costs are provider-controlled and can vary by country and card terms.

Payouts by international wire transfer
If international wire payouts are supported for your selected location, they should appear as one of the available payout routes during setup.
In this guide
What an international wire transfer is Possible fees to consider Setting up international wire transfers Staying safe
What an international wire transfer is
An international wire transfer is an electronic bank transfer that moves money across borders, often in a different currency than the local one used by your receiving bank.
Possible fees to consider
Receiving a cross-border bank payout may involve fees such as:
  • Your bank: Some banks charge to receive foreign-currency transfers.
  • Intermediary banks: If the funds pass through other institutions before arrival, extra charges may be deducted along the way.
The final cost can vary by bank, country, and transfer path, so exact deductions are not always known in advance.
Setting up international wire transfers
Adding a new payout method is often quick, but verification may still take a little time. While review is happening, the payout route may show as pending.
To receive payouts through international wire transfer:
  1. Enter your local banking details in payout settings, even if your bank works with intermediary institutions.
  2. Depending on location, you may need to provide an account number, IBAN, or similar receiving information from your bank.
  3. In many cases, intermediary bank handling is managed in the background, so you may not need to enter separate intermediary details yourself.
A per-transaction cap may apply in some setups, often around $50,000 USD or local equivalent depending on the payout system.
Staying safe
Use official payout settings and trusted account controls when entering banking information. If anything about a payout request seems suspicious, stop and verify it through the official support or account channels before acting.

How cash pickup payouts work
With a cash pickup route, released earnings are sent through a transfer partner and can then be collected using the identification and transfer details required by that provider. Availability depends heavily on country support and local regulations.
What details you may need
To set this up, you may be asked for the full legal name tied to the pickup, country details, and other information required by the transfer provider. The information must usually match the identification you plan to show when collecting funds.
Typical timing
Once a payout is released, pickup availability can often happen within roughly one business day, though exact timing depends on the provider, local holidays, and review steps.
Some providers may apply per-transfer limits or fees based on local rules.
Safety reminders
Only use payout details you entered through official account settings. If any pickup request or support message seems unusual, pause and confirm it through official support channels before taking action.

  • You want funds sooner, including outside normal banking hours
  • You’re comfortable with a small fee for faster access
  • Your country and card setup are both supported for this route
Availability can be limited by country, so some accounts may never see Fast Pay as an option.
Card transaction limits
Card networks and payout providers may enforce transfer caps. Exact rules can change over time, but examples may include:
Visa-style limits:
  • Single transaction around $50,000 USD
  • Daily totals that may be capped separately
  • Weekly and monthly totals that may also have network limits
Mastercard-style limits:
  • Single transaction around $50,000 USD
  • Monthly total caps may apply depending on the network or region
If you expect a payout that is too large for card-based limits, a traditional bank route or a payout split rule may help avoid delays.

Visa-style limits:
  • Single transaction around $50,000 USD
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly totals may each have separate caps
Mastercard-style limits:
  • Single transaction around $50,000 USD
  • Monthly or rolling period caps may apply depending on the program
If a payout may exceed card limits, using a bank transfer or splitting the payout ahead of time can help reduce delays.
